Clear and Comfortable Smile Correction
According to a study commissioned by the American Association of Orthodontists, nearly one third of US adults are unhappy with the appearance of their smile due to misalignment. Despite the desire for an even smile, few adults are willing to embrace traditional metal orthodontics. To correct misalignment while helping adults maintain their professional appearance, we offer Invisalign® clear braces. An alternative to metal braces, Invisalign offers patients clear smile correction. Dr. Jonathan Glass has the skills and training to provide our patients in Cypress, TX, and the Greater Houston area with innovative clear braces.
How Does Invisalign Work?
Typically, orthodontic treatment involves bonding metal brackets to the surface of the teeth, and connecting them with an arch wire. Over time, adjustments to the arch wire moves the teeth into an optimal setting. With Invisalign, the metal brackets and wires are replaced with a series of clear plastic aligners. After a careful analysis of a patient’s current bite in relation to his/her ideal bite, the aligners gently guide their teeth into the proper position. Worn every day for a set amount of time, recommended by Dr. Jonathan Glass, the aligners correct the teeth in smooth, gentle increments at roughly the same amount of time as traditional orthodontic appliances, with equally impressive results.
The Benefits of Invisalign
- Comfortable: Invisalign reduces the gum and cheek irritation that often accompanies metal braces.
- Convenient: The aligners can be removed before meals or special occasions, and require fewer office visits.
- Efficient: Braces can take up to two years, while Invisalign corrects smiles in about a year.
- Esthetically pleasing: Invisalign aligners are practically invisible.
What Does the Invisalign Process Involve?
The process begins with an initial consultation. During this visit, Dr. Glass will exam your smile to see if Invisalign is the best choice for you. We typically recommend Invisalign clear braces for adults and teens with minor misalignment.
Next, we will create your treatment plan. After making a 3D model of your teeth, we will be able to discuss what your treatment will involve in detail. To create this model, Dr. Glass will employ state-of-the-art dental technology, including digital x-rays, digital impressions, and intraoral cameras. The images and 3D model will then be sent to an Invisalign lab, where experts will create your aligners.
Once your aligners arrive, you will wear them every day and upgrade to a new set about every two weeks. Dr. Councill and Dr. Glass will monitor your progress about every six weeks. You will use about 20-30 aligners during the entire process. After about a year, or up to 18 months for teens, you will finally obtain the beautiful, even smile you deserve. If you have any questions, please contact our office today. Together, we can help you achieve your smile goals and enjoy a beautiful, even smile.
