At Councill Dental Group, we believe that a true professional never stops developing his or her skills and a truly caring dentist never stops striving to provide the very best care for his patients. At the intersection of cutting-edge skill and exceptional care is Digital Smile Design (DSD), a dynamic approach to cosmetic and implant dentistry. Dr. R. Terry Councill and Dr. Jonathan Green are proud to be among the first practitioners of DSD in Texas, and look forward to using this innovative technique to help you achieve your most beautiful smile.
Your Best Smile, As Nature Intended
Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but how we perceive beauty in the human face may be as simple as 1:1.618. This number has been referred to as the Golden Ratio since the time of the Ancient Greeks and, according to Scientific studies conducted as recently as 2009, facial features that reflect this ratio are perceived as more beautiful.
So, What Does This Have to do with Smile Design?
By using the Golden Ratio and precise measurements to determine the ideal length, width, and spacing of teeth as well as the smile’s most ideal shape, Dr. Council and Dr. Green can help you achieve your most beautiful smile.
How Does Digital Smile Design Work?
The Digital Smile Design experience begins during your first appointment, when Dr. Councill or Dr. Glass take extensive digital photos of your mouth, teeth, and face. Your dentist then uses a state-of-the-art protocol to design your ideal smile in a digital environment. Next, you’ll decide which smile design you love the most and the real work can begin. In some cases, we may work with an offsite lab that can create a “try-in” model of your enhanced teeth so you can see your new smile before proceeding with a treatment plan.
The Benefits of Digital Smile Design
The most obvious benefit of DSD is that it allows for a truly customized smile makeover. Every facet of your new smile is designed to flatter your unique facial features.
A DSD Case Study
In some cases, DSD can actually simplify a smile makeover. For example, Dr. Councill had a patient come in for a second opinion. This patient had been told by another dentist that a full set of veneers was the only treatment option for correcting several serious cosmetic issues. After undergoing the DSD protocol in Dr. Councill’s skilled hands, the patient ended up only needing two veneers, and a teeth whitening treatment. The time and money the patient saved was matched by her satisfaction with her new, beautiful smile.
